Shyanne Rodriguez Kiritpal

Shyanne Rodriguez-Kiritpal is the founder and creative force behind ShyGirlMedia. A Trinidadian and Guyanese photographer, she was born in Canada and raised in the twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, where she was immersed in a vibrant tapestry of culture, music, and history. These early experiences ignited her passion for visual storytelling and inspired a lifelong desire to transform imagination into compelling imagery. At the age of 13, Shyanne returned to Toronto. In 2021, at just 18 years old, she pursued her passion by enrolling in the Video Production and Photography program at Durham College, where she refined her technical and creative skills. Following the pandemic, she launched her Instagram platform, @shygirlmedia_t.o, in 2022, officially introducing her work and creative vision to a wider audience. Since then, Shyanne has built a diverse portfolio spanning live events, portraiture, conceptual art, cinematography, nature, dance, cultural documentation, and fashion photography. Her artistic philosophy embraces creative exploration rather than limitation. As she explains: "In this field, I don't believe in staying within one genre because if you have a wide enough imagination for your work, why not apply that to different departments?" In 2026, Shyanne was selected as one of three winners of the LUX Carnival Band Launch Photography Competition, with her winning images featured on the organization's Instagram platform. As an emerging visual artist, this exhibition marks her debut gallery presentation, showcasing a collection of editorial portraits that explore identity, emotion, and personal growth through her lens.
